overall personality , Derak is, in general, a sweet horse... he’s just a stallion. He’s extremely intelligent, picking up on new things quickly... though this also means that he picks up on bad habits fast as well... he’s a thief and likes to steal brushes and buckets, though he’s pretty gentle around children.
He’s an in-you-pocket horse when you don’t want him to be and he’s like a puppy... following you around in the pasture and refusing to leave you alone... annoying and irritating, but sweet. Derak can be headstrong at times and he knows that he’s stronger than his handlers and can get away if he wants to. He can be pretty explosive when he isn’t worked in a while and gets a little antsy around mares, though he’s usually fine with geldings and has to be checked around other stallions.
Derak tests his limits with new riders and occasionally tests his usual riders as well... to see if he can get away with anything new. He loves doing his tricks and sometimes tries to play with humans as though they were other horses... running up to you and whirling around, letting fly a small kick or two before taking off... trying to incite you to chase him. Sometimes he can be a bit nippy, especially if it’s near feeding time... but usually he goes for clothes, not flesh. He can be a bit unpredictable.

history , Derak was imported to the U.S as a weanling and raised in Virginia until he was a year and a half. He was sold to a woman in Rhode Island for a relatively cheap price. She turned right around and offered him for sale for a much higher price and he was bought by Elijah as a two year old.
The stallion thrived on attention, and under Elijah’s care he got all the attention he wanted and needed. His owner would spend, on average, at least a good three to five hours with him daily, teaching him new things and just bonding with him. When the stallion hit four, he was abruptly sent off for basic riding training. At the trainers, he pitched a fit at first, as he was extremely spoiled, but eventually he took to riding and found that he enjoyed it, though every now and then he would completely blow up just to see if he could get away with it.
When he returned to his owners, he was once again spoiled, but this time he was also ridden and required to do more. He took to the new tricks that Eli taught him like a fish to water and loved going to little kids parties and performing his tricks... as mentioned before, Derak thrives on attention.
Eventually, he was sent to a new home for a few years... he was sent off to be trained in other things and learned Dressage, which he showed in extensively, along with driving. He also trail rode and rode in parades fairly often until he was sent back to Elijah when his owner decided to move and take him along instead of selling him.
