Los Angeles, CA where the truth lies and "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players." William Shakespeare. Deliberate and calculated deception, the art form known as "Lying", is a skill most if not all of us have acquired by the tender age of 4. We've been taught that lying is wrong, yet we lie every day in the name of civility. To lie effectively, one must accept the theory of mind, which is to say that other people have minds and can be deceived. Lies, like secrets have psychological reasons behind them. For some, lying is about feeling better about themselves. The superficially charming, are the most interesting liars, they lack empathy and have no qualms about deceit, theft, or violence. For others, lying is about making others feel better. The perpetually “nice” they lie to keep everyone in their bubble calm. They don’t want to offend, or hurt feelings – but what happens when they get caught up in their lies? What happens when they can no longer protect the ones nearest and dearest to them? Self-destruction? Redemption? Well, Hollywood may be one big production --- but there is no script. The players must take it upon themselves to decide their fate, lies and all. Welcome to L.A.
