Hogwarts has gone through some drastic changes since the Triwizard Tournament ended in the death of Cedric Diggory and Harry Potter’s claims that the Dark Lord has returned to power.
Cornelius Fudge had two choices.
One, to believe Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore and inform the magical world that the greatest evil it has ever known was back and now stronger than ever.
Or two, he could assure the people that Potter and Dumbledore were merely looking for attention and that there was nothing to fear. At the beginning of Harry’s 5th year at Hogwarts it was pretty obvious that Fudge had opted for the easy way out. Student’s are living in blissful ignorance, they believe every word that the Daily Prophet has been writing. Most of the students at Hogwarts aren’t too worried about Voldemort, in their opinion there is a greater evil around....
