overall personality , While Maddie’s other horse, Milo, is a well-behaved, well trained, and somewhat of a saint of horse, Friday is.....not. Stubborn, pushy, and often mean-spirited, Friday can be one mean son of a gun pony. He can definitely be nasty and all those dealing with him are cautioned to always stay on their toes because he has been known to take a chunk out of his handlers the moment they stop paying attention. He will bite, cow-kick, and rear if he’s not properly handled, or if whoever is handling him turns away or is distracted for even a moment. Maddie has been working with him since she got him, but so far, he’s only better when she’s actually the one controlling him.
One would hope that at least if he’s nasty on the ground, he’d be better under saddle, but sadly....he’s not. He’s incredibly talented, there’s no doubt about that, his bloodlines speak for themselves, but his snarky personality has pushed riders away(or bucked them off). He will buck, rear, refuse, and on one occasion even laid down in the middle of the ring and refused to get up until his rider got off. He will run through the bit and this little pony loves to run, so once he gets going, there’s not a lot that will stop him. Friday is not at all a beginner horse, though ironically, he is oddly good around children on the ground (mostly because they give him treats). This is the best and oftentimes the only way to get Friday to do anything for you- through his stomach. Pony loves to eat, and often eats twice the amount of horse his size. He is improving, but he has a long way to go before Maddie would let anyone who is not a very seasoned handler or a very advanced rider deal with him

history , Friday was born and bred in Virginia at a small sport pony breeding and training farm. It was hoped that he would have gained his sire’s great ability and go on to be a competing and breeding stallion himself. Friday was kept as a stallion for this reason, and did, in fact win conformation and a place in the breeding books. He was broken as a three year old, and at this time his ‘personality’ started to emerge. However, he was still a ‘cute pony’ and the owners were unprepared for a stallion like him, and simply let his naughty behavior go unchecked. They were hoping to train him as an eventer like his father and did just that. When he was ridden he was a careful and an astounding jumper for such a little horse. He was bred twice, and produced a filly and colt. Unfortunately neither had the conformation or ability that was hoped for from the breeding, so when Friday was six he was gelded. It was a little late though, and there was no dealing with him at that point. His owners were simply unqualified to deal with a stallion with behavior like his, but didn't want to get rid of him for fear of him ending up on a meat truck, so he was sent out to a paddock as a pasture ornament to spend the rest of his life.
Maddie happened to meet him on pure chance. She and Milo were boarding at a neighboring farm, and while out on a hack, she saw Friday out in the field. Now this wouldn’t have been that exciting except he happened to be jumping the 4.5 foot fence, across the fields like it was no issue in order to get to a bordering field with more grass. Madeleine approached the owners about him, asking what he was doing in the field getting fat. They admitted to not being able to handle him and were only too willing to give him to Maddie. Maddie spent a lot of time working with him and handling him, and the two slowly developed a very deep relationship. He and Milo also got along surprisingly well, so Maddie was able to keep them together. When Maddie brought him to his first event, just a little unrated Novice, he astounded everyone, and it was then that Maddie knew she had made the right choice by taking him. Madeleine has sense competed him up to Training, and does not doubt his ability to go all the way up the levels, if only she can get his nasty pony behavior under control and focused into doing his job.
