overall personality , She is no one person horse, no she tends to be a bitch to all people equally. In saying that the worst time to be around her like most mares is when she is in heat. Very strong headed and willed with hardly any discipline this horse was and still is really good for nothing. Her ground manners however are near impeccable providing of course you remain strong and firm with her every second you are in her company. She is incredibly bold and fearless which is what makes her excel in her field ( Cross Country ) she is more likely to step through a puddle as if it isn't even there than tip toe around it, and you will never see her trail along at the back of a ride.

history , Pal was an accidental breeding, but wasn't unwanted. Both her parents were more than proven in there fields and had conformation to boot. She was a late 1988 foal and despite her younger age she fitted easily with the rest of the broodmares and there older foals. She lived an ordinary life, broken in lightly at two, six months back in a paddock, then back for more training before back in a paddock for a few months. She was trained by one of the studs trainers who liked to break up his training letting the yearlings just be a horse.
She was a strong fiery three year old, much more than the rest of the 1988 foal crop. She dominated the small herd and her handlers. Nothing to be concerned about however and her training continued as normal. She was sold on to a jumping barn who continued her training turning her towards the jumping discipline. She stayed there for a year before being sold to a very talented young rider who started taking her to some small local shows. Talented as she was the girl couldn't handle the mares power and fiery spirit and ended up re selling her to the jumping barn nine months later.
They showed her a bit more before putting her in foal hoping it would bring out her calmer side. It worked and after the colt was weened and Pal returned to work she wasn't as fiery as she had been before, however was still incredibly strong spirited and willed. Twelve months in solid work once more having done incredibly well again at local and interstate shows, she was starting to gain a reputation thanks to the well known jumping barn and her talent in the jumping ring. However she was still far to difficult to rein in and would often make faults due to it. Seeing as she was getting nowhere further in the field she was put back on the market as a broodmare.
The new owners were a specialty breeding barn and worked on getting her ground manners down pact as they worked with live stallions and refused to have an rude arrogant mare as part of there stock. She was also used as a trail horse lightly just to keep her in work. She seemed to relax a bit out on the trails and proved to be just as bold out in the forest as she did in the jumping ring. Before she had the chance to be bred again she was put on the market again. The breeders had fallen into hard times and were only keeping there best proven breeders so Pal went. She was sold this time for much less, having done nothing the last year but step out on the trails mixed in with her fresh stride under saddle made her worth very little.
Rhilyn took her home straight away. He was an undisciplined as she was, however like the mare he was a well trained rider who just had an urge for adrenaline and not so much for controlled discipline. The mare was very educated and easy to handle on the ground, she just needed an equally spirited person in the saddle. The amount Rhilyn fell of in the first few years years is outstanding. It took two years for him to realise that he needed to control her not just let her run wild with him just on top for the ride. He swallowed his pride and spent the next two years looking for instructors in what ever town he was in. They have spent the last six months competing in cross country and the occasional show jump. She is still making the same faults she was last time she competed. However with Rhilyn aboard they seem to be making some progress together.
