overall personality , Addy is a hot-blooded Thoroughbred; while she didn’t have the drive to be a race horse, she’s still young and a bit skitty. She can be a bit impatient on the ground but under saddle she’s generally pretty good but does get a bit spooky in new places. She loves to jump but rushes at the moment and tends to drop some rails because she gets so excited. On the ground she can be a bit of a handful but she’s learning to calm down and relax; she loves a good run around her paddock and enjoys playing “catch-me-if-you-can” when she needs to come in. She doesn’t bite or kick though and she generally loves having company and prefers to be put out in the paddock with another horse. She likes people and is friendly but insistent, she likes to bump people and pull on their shirts. She’s playful and sweet but can be a bit crazy.[/size]

history , Addy was born on a Thoroughbred racing farm in Kentucky in the heart of race country. Her initial plan for life was to be a successful racehorse and when she was a yearling she showed potential, blitzing everyone else in the paddock as the fillies frolicked together, even leaving some of the colts in the dust. There were high expectations for her as both her parents had been good; but as her backing took place and her training began, the spark she’d had as a youngster in the paddock didn’t transfer to the track.
She lagged behind the field at home on the practice oval, disappointed her owners took her to races and entered her in a claims race where she was picked up by an older couple who picked up racehorses off the track who were not showing enough “spunk” on the track. She was put out to pasture for a couple of years until she was a little older; at the age of four, they hired someone to work with her again to see what she would be like under saddle in equestrian sports other than racing.
She showed some good promise jumping on the free rein with lots of scope and her excitable nature; her paces were nice and she moved well. The hired rider rode the horse for a year until the owners decided to let the daughter of a family friend take the horse and see if she could compete and train her a bit more. Addy was given to Hayley when she moved away from home; and Hayley has the challenge to work with the mare.
