basic appearance, Shaelyn has a fairly short build standing at 5'3". She had never been one for small ponies, so her stature looks rather tiny astride the bigger horses she prefers. Thick locks of rich brown-red color cascade, when wavy, just past her shoulders. Straightened it can reach almost to her shoulder blades. Usually the front of her hair is swept back out of her face, revealing a pair of light brown eyes usually outlined with a dusting of eyeshadow and lightly applied black eyeliner. Her eyelashes are falsely prominent thanks to a tube of mascara. She personally thinks that she is not naturally pretty without it, but will sacrifice and keep her face a blank canvas when going out to the barn.
Thanks to her thick Irish heritage, Shaelyn has always had a fairly pale complexion. A light sprinkle of freckles dapples her nose and arms, which she is grateful to only have that many and not be decked out with them as much as her mother is. Her body, at 120 lbs, fits her small frame without looking too skinny nor too plump. She has curves, but wished she had more; her chest isn't very "blessed", but a good push-up helps cure that. Shaelyn rarely dresses in super-girly fashion, and isn't one for much sparkle. Her clothing style is usually chosen to be very comfy and never super tight. The occasions where she would even think of dressing up would be on either a date or some sort of special occasion, which neither come up very often. She likes to look nice, not a complete bum, but down at the barn she usually enjoys a loose t-shirt and her riding pants and all the other riding necessities.
Due to a car accident when she was a child, Shaelyn had acquired a slight limp due to a pelvic injury. She is able to ride without pain, but if you look to her stride when she walks it is a bit hindered and the flexibility of the motion shortened. She has a pair of rather dainty ears, which in her opinion, are too small compared to other people's. The only time her hair will be in a pony-tail, or tucked under a helmet, is at the stables - any other time it will be loose and covering them.
physical flaws, Shaelyn has a rather small nose that has a very "knobby" appearance at the tip. From certain angles it looks to be a bit crooked. Her other flaw would be the limp she inherited from a car accident, which even with physical therapy was unable to go away completely. Also, ever since a young age, Shaelyn had suffered from a mild case of scoliosis in which her spine is slightly curved in which she has to go to the chiropractor regularly for the rest of her life. Although this is not noticeable, it causes her discomfort and in turn makes her appear to be rather unhappy at times. Aside from something you cannot see, Shaelyn also vainly tries to tame the "cowlick" at her hairline that sends her hair splitting in an undesirable direction, which is why she is unable to fashionably sport bangs. Each day she has to use hair spray and gel to sweep it back, although when the hair spray fails the separation is obvious. In addition to these other flaws, she has a rather square chin that some would consider masculine; it doesn't have a very soft curve to it and it juts out a little bit.

overall personality ,
Shaelyn had been a very shy, reserved child when she was growing up. She mostly kept to herself, completely content with playing alone on the playground. She has blossomed in to a more outgoing, friendly young woman that isn't afraid to go up to a stranger and make conversation. She won't go out of her way too often to do this, but she rarely puts up a wall around someone unless they make her feel uncomfortable. She doesn't feel the need to constantly have human companionship, which is probably why she cuts off her 'men' relationships as soon as they get too clingy. She hadn't had any sort of heart-wrenching break up, or ending things on bad terms; she actually grows to trust men easily, as well as women. She's experienced betrayal and hurtful moments just like any one else, but she tries not to let past people's mistakes get in the way of getting to know someone else and make them pay for someone else's wrong doing.
Shaelyn is a real go-getter, she doesn't give up easily when she sets a goal for herself. If someone says she can't do it, she will do it, and far beyond their expectations. She wasn't an extremely good student in high school, but when she got certified as a vet tech she stepped it up and achieved it for herself. Having a very down to earth personality, most people find it easy to get along with her but sometimes she has a habit of judging people very quickly. First impressions mean a lot to Shae, and if you ruin yours, good luck changing her mind. She doesn't believe in too many second chances, depending on the situation. She normally doesn't have a problem moving on from an event in her life and never looking back. She is a fairly neat person, liking things to be orderly and can be found cleaning her tack often and making sure everything is spic-and-span at home.
Don't let this 5'3", gentle-hearted young woman fool you, though. If you cross the line and push her over the edge, which rarely happens, she has displayed a temper that most people wish they never saw. Although she is calm, cool, and collected almost all the time, there has been one or two occasions in her life where she just couldn't hold it in any longer. She had actually attended anger management classes once before, a few years back; she is extremely embarrassed of this and only her family knows she went. She keeps that side of her hidden away, refusing to ever bring it up or get so angry at someone that she just flips her lid. Most people that meet her recognize the sweet voice and will appreciate her willingness to listen or help.

history , Shaelyn Keira McAndrews was born on April 12th, 1985 in Dublin, Ireland. Her twin brothers Bentley and Aidan were five years old at the time. Just when Shaelyn was a year old, the family decided to move to Pennsylvania, United States in order to be closer to family that had moved there; hardly any had remained in Ireland. They lived on a charming little farm with a quaint house big enough for the family of five as well as two horses that had come with the property purchase. They were both gentle drafts, used in some farm work that the previous elderly owner had done his whole life. This had sparked Shaelyn's love for horses, for she had grown to love the giant horses and care for them; they tolerated her clumsy hands and learning years. She even rode the one around the farm at snail speed, but it was her favorite hobby. However when she was nine years old and her brothers fourteen, Aidan was diagnosed with leukemia. He died shortly later that year, and the family was in a state of complete shock. Bentley and Shaelyn grew closer than ever, and he became her rock as their parents' relationship slowly deteriorated.
Eventually their parents separated, her father moving to New York to pursue his business career and they stayed behind on the farm with their mother. The large land was auctioned off, while the main area of where the house was, a small yard, and barn and a tiny pasture remained. Bentley graduated and went away to college, while it was only down to Shaelyn and her mother to care for the farm. The horses had been sold, and soon the two moved closer to the city for more affordable living. As soon as she graduated, Shaelyn felt guilty and was slightly angry that her brother had just gone off to college and left she and her mother behind. She stayed close to home, getting her certification as a vet technician and working locally. Throughout these years her mother had been able to afford riding lessons for Shae, in which she thrived and kept her going. She stayed optimistic and positive, taking it a day at a time and not letting the death of her brother, or the separation of her parents, get her down. She eventually saved enough money to purchase her own horse, an Irish Sport Horse Gelding.
Defying Gravity, as is the show name on his papers, was a colored irish sport horse. He was gentle and a bit goofy in his mannerisms, but he had stolen Shaelyn's heart from the beginning. He wasn't the most handsome or athletic horse, but with some work the two of them got better together. Working mainly on cross country and hunter, the pair got to be a strong team. He was a good steady ride for Shaelyn, without many vices and not too spooky. He would stop at a fence here and there but with some support he would work through it. After only having him for two years, he fell extremely ill and she thought he would never recover. However, today he is as good as new, and being completely babied by Shaelyn because of it.
Shaelyn's mother decided to move closer to Bentley, who had ended up in New York near their father. Shae was still secretly holding a grudge to her father - he had left them, after all. At twenty-five, she decided to leave home with their Great Pyrenees Goliath, and her horse, to Caramel Rivers. Her parents phone her from time to time and she mainly emails with Bentley about her recent move and how everything was going. Still extremely new to Caramel Rivers, Shaelyn is yet to established a job and is working on sorting out where she wants to go in life.

roleplay sample ,
The sun felt warm on her face, making her skin tingle and a feeling of relaxation oozed through her body. Closing her eyes, the usual darkness was illuminated orange as the bright sun rays lit up her eyelids. A soft breath squeaked through her lips, which soon drew tight over a set of white teeth in to a small smile. A gentle breeze lifted her hair, blowing it away from her face. Her eyelids flickered open, warm brown eyes surveying the scene before her. The pasture rolled out for acres beyond where Shaelyn stood, a leadrope neatly over her shoulder, the brass clip in between her fingertips. Her red-brown locks jerked in front of her face as a sudden gust of wind blew the opposite direction, her free hand reaching up to clear the hair back to its rightful place.
A steady hand reached for the gate, resting on the semi-rusted metal and leaning against it. She squinted, focusing in on a multi-color horse in the distance. A solid bay stood beside it, a pasture mate. The painted sport horse had his head lifted, ears tilted forward and waiting. Shaelyn whistled sharply, once, and the soft thudding of hooves on grass came sweetly to her ears. The horse drew closer, the white patches on his body smeared with mud and grass stains. Sighing in disappointment, Shae should've known her beloved horse would roll to his heart's content the day after a bath. The gelding slowed, his nostrils flaring as he snorted, bobbing his head up and down. The faded blue halter was disheveled on his head. He did not jerk away as Shaelyn entered the pasture, easily clipping the brass clip to the metal loop beneath his jaw. Shoving at her pockets expectantly, the gelding nearly knocked her over as she giggled and offered a round mint to him in the flat palm of her hand. "Good boy," She crooned, massaging behind his ear affectionately. Once he finished chewing the treat obnoxiously, the two exited the pasture, Shae making sure to secure the gate properly so as the bay would not escape.
The pair strolled silently together along the winding path back to the stables, the scenery glimmering with fresh morning dew. It was early, and the sun was still sleepily making its way over the distant mountains, painting the sky warm hues. The gelding shook his head from time to time, snorting here and there. His hooves fell heavy against the solid path, hitting a rock once and awhile with his metal shoes. His mane was stuck up in all directions, strands of grass and clumps of mud intertwined. A smear of grass slobber ran along Shaelyn's right jean pocket, but she paid no mind to it. Her half-chaps, kept in good condition by constant cleaning, looked brand new even though they were well broken-in. A loose blue t-shirt draped over her upper body, hiding her curves and allowing her to feel comfortable. Her hair was swooped back in to a loose pony tail, a few strands having escaped and were now framing her face. Pausing a moment, the pair watched a doe and her fawn casually grazing in an open field next to the path, watching the wild animals carefully dart away after they realized they were being watched.
