So, you've decided to join Caramel Rivers? Great! We'd love to have you! We all know what the first step to joining a site is, and that's the annoying application. Yes, that damn thing where you have to tell us about your character and show us that you can write. We all hate them, but they have to be done if we expect the site to remain full of advanced role players and only realistic characters.
That being said, when joining Caramel Rivers be prepared to actually work on your application. Don't expect to be accepted if you only spent an hour on the character. Put some time and effort into your character.
Also, at Caramel Rivers, we look down at excessive drama. This doesn't mean your character can't have a slightly troubled past or some current problems, but it does mean we do not want your character being hated by their father, having their mother killed, their father abusing them and then running away from home when they are only eighteen to a new country now that they are anorexic and hardly able to function around people. It's not needed and isn't something I, personally, want to role play with nor is it good for a realistic site.
I have decided to add this post in order to help people be accepted from the get go. Now that I have said that, remember that Caramel Rivers is a site based around characters and we require the character to be well made to be accepted. This means a little tweaking may need to be done to have your character accepted. Don't get discouraged or defensive. If I or another staff member say changes need to be made, please just make them. If you are not willing to make them and put the time needed into your character than this is not the site for you so don't try to threaten me into accepting your character as is by saying you'll leave the site if I don't. It's not going to work.
So, yeah, maybe this post was made as a sort of weed out for people who will not take the time to work on a character in order to join the site. We have had too many members who join and get angry or upset when we ask for changes to be made and I'm tired of it. If I have scared you away, then so be it, but I hope I have not. If not, put up your application and one million welcomes to Caramel Rivers!
