overall personality , Strider is in no way a horse most people would fall in love with. At six years old he is hardly saddle broke, thought not for lack of trying and has seriously injured more than his fair number of people over the years. He is the opposite of trusting and over the years has only shown a fondness for one person, that being his owner Sasha. Although everything has been tried to make him except another’s touch, nothing has worked. The stallion has an unplaced fear of women, freaking out if one even approaches his hide. Strider will rear, bite, kick or do whatever he takes to get his way and at 17.2 hands with the build of a draft horse, he is a very intimidating look and usually does get what he wants. Such a big horse isn’t one you want to scare, and he does spook at quite a bit. Lunging whips, riding crops, spurs and even saddles only start his list of phobias.

history , Strider was born as an accident to a family’s percheron mare, the family horse and brood mare, and an eventing stallion, percheron crossed with a thoroughbred. The resulting foal was useless for anything the family needed, to big to event yet still with too strong a hotblood personality to become a good family horse. The colt was sold to someone that the family thought would take good care of him, but they wouldn’t have been more wrong. The woman he was sold to abused the poor beast, badly. She trained him badly and brought up his fear and hate of all humans, mostly women. After three years of living though the unbearable conditions with the horrible owner the woman couldn’t afford to keep him any more and sold him at a local auction, where a ranch for abused horses bought him, here young men convicted of violent crimes took care of the animals as an alternative to jail. After a week of having him around and him wounded the lead wrangler at the camp they were going to have him put down. That’s when Sasha spoke up and told them he would have a go with the fiery horse. A year later Sasha left the camp and took Strider along with him. Now Sasha is still working on the stallion's training, but he has calmed down a bit to the point where he has been used for breeding to full blooded thoroughbreds in order to make sport horses, generally eventers. Though none of his offspring are yet of training age, it is looking promising that he may become a sire that is envied.
